Work-Related Asthma

The Provider Education Program has developed a program on Work-related Asthma (WRA) for health care providers. This program will help ensure that the diagnosis and management of work-related asthma patients in Ontario is carried out in accordance with CTS Guidelines for Occupational Asthma.

Participants will be able to:

  • • Screen for WRA in all working adults with new onset asthma or recent deterioration of existing asthma.
  • • Recognize and objectively diagnose WRA.
  • • Provide optimum management to better control asthma symptoms, reduce or prevent workplace exposures and, where necessary, seek support for affected patients.

This is a 2 hour program comprised of a didactic presentation delivered by specialists in the field, followed by a facilitated case discussion period. Participants have the benefit of gaining knowledge from a specialist in the field of work-related asthma and an opportunity to actively work through cases.
